Amy's cousin, Gary, and his family, Jen and Connor, came up to visit us last weekend and we stayed on the go for most of it. Amy and I had to work Thursday so they took the car down to Martha's Vineyard for the day. The next day was rainy and blah so we took advantage of it and took Monique to her first movie at the theaters. We saw Wall-E, the latest Disney/Pixar film, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It did clear up for the evening which allowed us to go out for the fireworks. Monique and Connor spent the time before the show chasing each other around and playing on a playset that was there. Then they settled in for the fireworks which, since Monique generally doesn't like loud noises we figured might be a bust, but she loved them and cheered and clapped through it. Unfortunately, she was also up until 11 pm, but she was a trooper.
On Saturday we went into Boston to catch a whale watching boat. Monique was tired, but got to see the whale's some. Connor, Gary and Jen were a fixture on the front of the boat and definitely got their money's worth. :) For Sunday we took a drive into Plymouth, MA and took a tour of the Mayflower II that was built as a replica of the original ship. We then walked around the town some and let the kids get wet in the ocean. Monique got some salt water in her mouth and then tried washing it out with more. :)
On the day they were flying out I had to go back into work, but everyone else went into Boston to for some more site-seeing. I ended up getting a call at work from Amy and Monique so Monique could tell me how excited she was on the trolley. Sadly, I couldn't really understand her because she was so excited, but Amy translated for me. :)
This week we've been playing catch up with laundry and work. We also recently made the choice to take Monique out of daycare and have a neighbor friend watch her instead. Monique loves hanging out with her two sons and we're often having them over or passing Monique over the wall to play with them.
We've got a couple weekends off which I'm hoping to use for training for the upcoming adventure race the first weekend of August, where we'll be back up to Vermont.
