Friday
Friday afternoon we made our way to Story Land and took a look around. We started with a train ride that went around most of the park, then to The Great Balloon Chase (a Ferris wheel) which Monique had seen on the ride around. After that we went to Professor Bigglestep's Loopy Lab which was a riot - you've got a bunch of soft balls that you can put in different things and the get pushed and sucked around by air. They have a second floor which has guns and sling shots for firing them out and the bottom floor has various ways of getting the balls back up to the second floor. Additionally, they had some boxes that suck the balls up to a cage above the area. When it got full enough the cage would open and dump out the balls onto whoever was standing below. Monique, might have stayed there the whole day, but we eventually called it quits and moved onto Dr Geyser's Remarkable Raft Ride which we had fun spinning around and getting wet on. Monique saw the Dutch shoes and wanted to finish the day on that ride. Ok, she didn't actually want to finish the day, but the park was closing and we convinced her that tomorrow was going to be the big day.After the park we realized we hadn't made much of a plan for dinner and Monique was getting tired, so I dropped her and Amy off at the hotel and went back out to a place called the Joseph's Spaghetti Shed to get dinner. They didn't have any milk so I had to make a trip into the grocery store. After I got back Amy realized that we forgot to pack nighttime diapers, so I went right back out and grabbed them as well as some breakfast stuff. After getting back we realized that I had completely not paid attention to the size of the diapers and happened to grab the L-XL size. So, Amy let me eat some food and went to the store to correct my mistake and grab some additional breakfast stuff that I hadn't thought of. Fortunately that was the last trip to the store and we were able to finish eating get Monique into bed and relax in front of the TV for a little ourselves.
Saturday
The next day we didn't sleep in, but we took our time getting ready and made it to the park for about 9:30 in the morning. This time we started out heading up the right side of the park and saw many of the story book characters. Unfortunately, we haven't read some of them to Monique so she didn't know them that well. They had a ball pit that we had to convince Monique to come out of after a half-hour or so. We then took a ride on Alice's teacups which went around in a figure eight. After which we walked up to Cinderella's castle and we saw Cinderella while we were going up. Monique wasn't too thrilled with the castle itself since she wanted to see Cinderella's bedroom and they only the main room open to the public. :) Amy and Monique rode the pumpkin coach back down the hill then they got on the carousel. From there we took a ride on the pirate ship. I was looking forward to getting Monique to do some "rowing" which involved rotating a handle in a circle. The seats weren't designed for three people to sit in them and we realized shortly after starting out the she'd only be able move it in a half-circle to avoid hitting people. She was game and did a good job at.At this point some rain clouds were getting close, but we had planned on going to the 2:00 circus showing (which incidentally it was about 1:45 at this point). Though it didn't rain very much so it was a small victory that we were inside. They had five acts, but Monique was really thrown off when the clown came out for the second at. He was pretending to hurt himself on a trampoline and Monique didn't want to stay around and watch it. I told her that he was a clown and pretending to hurt himself and she seemed a little better, but she was much happier when the house cats came out to perform.
Next we went to the Oceans of Fun Sprayground which was a mixed back. Some of the vents were pretty loud which Monique didn't like and the central volcano that would jet some water up to fall on people in the general area would startle her. She liked the sub so we spent a little time in that. At this point she was starting to loose steam and was going to need a nap. So we had her pick a ride to go on and she wanted the ride the Turtle Twirl. I had forgotten that I don't care for those rides, but was quickly reminded when it hit the first spin. Monique didn't care for it much either and wanted off after the third turn. So we got them to stop the ride and we got off. Fortunately they plan for that and stopping the ride just involved us giving the person running it a thumbs down.
We decided we'd try one more ride, the Whirling Whales, which was very similar to the Dutch Shoes we had ridden the day before as a way to end on a good note. She rode with Amy and seemed to be enjoying herself and calling out to me as she went around. After that we went to the gift shop for a souvenir and then back to the room so Monique could take a nap.
This night we thought we'd order take out again for dinner and Amy went to the office to see what was recommended or what was nearby. We decided on a Chinese restaurant that she had picked up the menu for that looked like it was nearby. Unfortunately, it was on the other side of North Conway from us. So it took me a while to figure that out and then traffic through North Conway is ridiculous if you're wanting to get somewhere quick. So instead of a quick jaunt out it took me over an hour to get the food back to the hotel.
Sunday
On Sunday we took things easy and had a nice breakfast at the Glen Junction Family Restaurant. Monique really liked the trains that went around the tracks near the ceiling. After which we took a ride on a real train on the North Conway to Conway run. I was a 20 minute ride one way, but not really that exciting. There was a nice view of the valley at one point, but otherwise we traveled through a lot of wooded area and saw a number of houses. After that Monique was pretty tired so we got her home for a nap.In the afternoon we went swimming for a little bit though the water was a bit cold. Amy got Monique to start dunking herself and they were having a blast. Then we got ourselves dried off and went to the Red Parka Steakhouse & Pub for dinner. I thought the meal was delicious and it was an added bonus that we didn't have to make either repeated trips or a long trip for anything.
